Summary of role
Working to manufacture complex scientific instrumentation. A broad range of varied work activities to encompass mechanical assembly, welding and vacuum leak checking of sub- assemblies.
There will be a need to develop to a level where considerable responsibility and autonomy is required. The training would be expected to be workshop and college based with the candidate having the opportunity to achieve the Apprenticeship Standard of Engineering Fitter, Level 3 qualification.
Responsibilities
Responsible to the Assembly Manager:
• Working on highly complex mechanical / electrical scientific instrumentation for distribution into a worldwide market
• Working to detailed instruction sheets
• To adhere to product specific procedures and completion of Quality records ensuring record keeping in accordance to ISO9001
• The build and assembly of parts and assemblies to drawing standards.
• the verification of parts against the appropriate drawings and/or standards which apply
• Low level internal wiring of assemblies.
• Correct use of tools and processes.
• To raise documentation for problem failure reporting, suggesting and implementing improvements where appropriate.
• Completing training both onsite and at the training school to achieve the Apprenticeship Standard of Engineering Fitter, Level 3.
Qualifications (Essential/Desirable)
• A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) with a minimum of a grade C/5 for English and maths. (E)
Experience (Essential/Desirable)
• Experience with ‘hands on’, practical work (D)
